Popular Tamil actor Vijayalakshmi emerged victoriously and grabbed Zee Tamil's adventurous game show 'Survivor' last week. Hosted by Action King Arjun Sarja, the show was well-received by the audience and created a whole lot of buzz on the internet. After fighting for survival for 91 days, Vijayalakshmi was declared the winner with majority votes and was awarded one crore rupees along with the coveted title.
An adaptation of the Swedish reality show 'Expedition Robinson', Zee Tamil's Survivor show is intended to combat contenders worst fears. The format of the show is designed in such a way that 18 participants will embark on an exhilarating journey on a secluded island to test their physical and mental strength. One participant who endured all the gruelling tasks and challenges will be declared the Survivor. The show started with 16 contestants earlier, added by two wild cards later.
All 18 participants are divided into two teams. These contestants are from various walks of life that include Vijayalakshmi, Vikranth, Nandaa, Narayan, Inigo Prabhakar, Umapathy, Saran, Lakshmipriya Chandramouli, Aishwarya Krishnan, Gayathri, Indraja Shankar, Besant Ravi, Ram, Lady Kash, Vanessa Cruz, Amzad Khan and VJ Parvathy. These contestants must participate in complex and challenging tasks to face their biggest fears and survive the hard times. After going through all the tough tasks, finally Umapathy, Aishwarya, Saran, Vijayalakshmi, Lucky Narayan, and Vanessa Cruz remained in the top 6 to lock horns in the Grand Finale. Despite many failures and injuries, Vijayalakshmi bounced back with grit and determination and won the title in the inaugural Survival season.
