The much anticipated first test match of India vs New Zealand at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore got off as the entire day was washed out due to rain. Fand who was eager to watch India return to test cricket after victory over Bangladesh was left frustrated due to bad weather.
Despite a delayed toss in the morning, there were hopes of play even though it was drizzling. Just when it seemed like raining and covers were coming up, a downpour returned, forcing the ground staff to get into action. Unfortunately, the weather didn’t let up, and by mid-afternoon, the umpires were left with no choice but to call off the match for the day.
With lunch and tea break
passing, without a single ball bowled, it was clear that the match was
completely washed out. India, coming into the series, will now have to wait
another day to take the field. Led by Rohit Sharma and with their squad Virat
Kohli, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Ravindra Jadeja, along with the returning of
Jasprit Bumrah, India is ready to prove its dominance over home soil.
