Mumbai entered Tata IPL 2024 as a favourite but lost the first three matches. Hardik Pandya faced the heat when the team management handed the leadership responsibilities to him from Rohit Sharma. However, in later matches, MI bounced back and won two consecutive games. The blue and gold team had a disappointing result in its previous game, losing to their age-old rival, CSK. Except for Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Nabi, the rest of the MI bowlers were thrashed by CSK batters and posted 206 on the board. Despite Rohit Sharma scoring a brilliant century, MI failed to chase the target and lost to its old foe. The Indian skipper received no support from other batters and eventually fell 20 runs short of the target. 

The Punjab Kings' top-order failures continue to haunt them. The team needs to be more consistent and handle pressure. They have succumbed to the pressure and lost some close matches with a slight margin. They lost to Rajasthan Royals in a low-scoring game last week. Johnny Bairstow has yet to play to his potential. Shikhar Dhawan, who missed the previous match, will likely return in this game. Sam Curran has been fantastic with bat and ball. Jitesh Sharma, Shashank Singh, and Ashutosh Sharma have consistently performed. Liam Livingstone returns from injury and joins the squad. 

Yesterday, Delhi Capitals registered a comfortable win against Gujarat Titans and took a giant leap on the leaderboard. Elected to bowl first, DC bowlers had a terrific start, destroying the GT batting order in their home territory. With a perfect mix of pace and spin, DC bowlers allowed Gujarat to put in a paltry 89 in 18 overs. Rishab Pant and Co. chased it in just nine overs and improved their run rate. With this win, DC jumped to the sixth position and hopes to continue the flow. 

Rajasthan Royals continues its domination and winning streak in the Tata IPL 2024. With 12 points in their bag, RR leads the points table. Kolkata, Chennai, and Hyderabad have eight points each, with a slight difference in the NRR.
