Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry, a lyricist, died of lung cancer

 

Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry, a Telugu lyricist who was getting treatment at a local hospital, died on Tuesday. The experienced songwriter, who was 66 years old at the time of his death, died of lung cancer-related complications, according to hospital sources.


Sirivennela Sastry made his acting debut in 1984 with Janani Janmabhoomi and gained recognition with the song Vidhatha Thalapuna from K Viswanath's Sirivennela. Sastry has written around 3000 songs. Swayamkrushi, Swarna Kamalam, Shrutilayalu, Gaayam, Swati Kiranam, Kshana Kshanam, Sindhooram, Nuvve Kavali, Okkadu, Varsham, and Gamyam are among the films for which he has written lyrics.

He also composed the lyrics for recent successful songs like Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo's 'Samajavaragamana' and RRR's forthcoming 'Dosti.' Seetharama Sastry received the Padma Shri award for his accomplishments to the realm of arts and aesthetics, as well as 11 state Nandi Awards and four Filmfare Awards South for his work as a lyricist in the cinema profession.
