BJP releases fifth list of 13 candidates

Gujarat elections 2017 live updates: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi will address a public meeting of fishermen. Former state Congress president Arjun Modhwadia is the party’s candidate from Porbandar seat.

With just over two weeks left for the phase-I of Gujarat Assembly elections, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday released its fifth list of 13 candidates for the polls.

Earlier in the day, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi began his two-day poll campaign from Porbandar. While addressing the fishermen community in Porbandar, Rahul Gandhi exuded confidence that the Congress party will come to power in Gujarat and will form a government which works as per the will of the people in the state.

Rahul Gandhi has already conducted roadshows all over the state in the last two months wherein he has targeted the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over a host of issues.

According to the party’s state spokesperson Manish Doshi, starting from Porbandar, the Congress leader will move to Ahmedabad to address a rally in the evening. During his visit to the Dalit Shakti Kendra today, he will accept an Indian flag that had initially been offered to Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani who declined to accept it owing to a space crunch.
